There’s a lot to watch on various streaming services — sometimes, it almost feels like too much. It’s not always easy to choose among the walls of options, jumping from one app to the other and looking for the perfect TV show or movie night selection, including some great original streaming movies. To simplify things for you, we’ve compiled some of the best new streaming movies to watch this week.

Check out our top picks from major streamers like Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and more, including free streamers like Plex, Tubi, and Amazon’s Freevee, as well as more niche services like Mubi and Shudder. The titles below were added to these services in the last month, and we aim to include a mix of streaming originals, new releases, older classics, and more. The Flash (2023)

DC is in a bit of an awkward phase right now as it transitions over to James Gunn’s leadership, but the Flash is an interesting movie for a few reasons. First, who doesn’t love a time-travel flick? In the film, Barry Allen uses his powers to travel back in time to prevent his mother’s murder, although the change leads to unintended consequences. The second major pull for this movie is the return of Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne. 

Babylon (2022)

This dark comedy film follows several fictional Hollywood types as they attempt to navigate the transition from silent films to full sound. Much of the movie centers on Mexican immigrant Manny Torres as he arrives in Los Angeles and attempts to make a name for himself, but he’s far from the only focus. The movie has an all-star cast comprised of  Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Jean Smart, Li Jun Li, and many other notable actors. What makes the movie even more unique is that it follows their lives through a wide period of time, as the movie spans from 1926 to 1952.

Slashback (2022)

Four teenage girls in a rural Artic community see their lives take a turn when they discover that they aren’t alone, as shapeshifting aliens are terrorizing the wilderness around them, grabbing victims and taking them to an alien artifact that drains the blood from their kills. Even worse, they can take the shape of anyone and anything. Armed with extensive knowledge of Sci-Fi movies, the friends team up to take on the invaders.

This classic campy violent action thriller by Quentin Tarantino stars Uma Thurman at her very best. After being betrayed by her boss and ex-lover, Bill, a well-known assassin, “The Bride” sets out on a gory mission for revenge as she systematically takes out all the people in her life that wronged her. The action spans two films, and both are now available on Amazon Prime. 

Stephen Curry: Underrated (2023)

Looking for a documentary to sink your teeth into? Stephen Curry: Underrated follows the basketball player’s life and career as an NBA superstar. With interviews from Curry and his family members, expect this one to go pretty deep. There’s also commentary from teammates and couches as well. 

Ambulance (2022)

Will Sharp is desperate for money as he needs over $200k to pay for his wife’s surgery. After trying to get the money by legit means, he ends up reaching out to his adopted brother Danny, a seasoned criminal. Together the two plan a bank heist, but it all goes horribly wrong, and they are forced to hijack an ambulance in their attempt to escape. The Ambulance is far from empty, with an EMT Cam Thompson, and an injured police officer onboard. To make matters worse, they soon find themselves engaged in an epic police chase.

Paradise (2023)

Set in an advanced and dystopian future, imagine a world where you can add years to a person’s life by rolling back the clock. Sounds nice, right? But what if you could also do the same in reverse? A man’s life is turned upside down when she is forced to give up 38 years of her life to pay off a debt. Desperate to find a way to get those years back, he’ll stop at nothing.

Now, he wants to make a documentary about his life and career, but with his latest album bombing, the captures may instead capture his downfall.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)

The 31st film in the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe and the third in the Ant-Man franchise, Quantumania sees Scott and Hope traveling into the Quantum Realm, where they meet an assortment of new allies and foes, including the mysterious and powerful Kang.

A Thousand and One (2023)

The film follows Inez as she kidnaps six-year-old her son from foster care to reconnect him to his roots. The free-spirit finds herself grappling with her sense of home, identity, and stability in a rapidly changing New York City.

Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman star in this bizarre and haunting film from The Favorite director Yorgos Lanthimos, one of the best new streaming movies you’ll want to check out this week. Doctor Steven Murphy’s idyllic, sanitized life is upset when a fatherless youth infiltrates his household, slowly inserting himself into Mrphy’s affairs. The boy’s intentions soon reveal themselves, threatening the order and safety of Murphy’s family.

Parasite (2019)

Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)

Despite a lukewarm reception amid major changes to the DC Extended Universe, Shazam! When a flight attendant is caught smuggling money for her arms dealing boss, she enlists the help of a bail bondsman who is falling in love with her.

Steven Soderbergh’s Out of Sight is one of the best Elmore Leonard adaptations around, and it features Michael Keaton reprising his role from Jackie Brown. The film sees a bank robber escaping from prison. One of the US Marshalls assigned to catch him finds herself in a game of cat and mouse that quickly turns romantic as the two consider their options.

The Social Network (2010)

Evil Dead Rise (2023)

The fifth installment in the Evil Dead series stars Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland as two estranged sisters who finally reunite, only for things to be cut short by the rise of human-possessing demons. Together the sisters must attempt to survive together and save their family in the process.

Things get a bit more complicated when she learns a stranger she kissed at a party is actually her boss’ son, and her co-worker. The romantic comedy also stars Keith Powers, Aisha Hinds, D. B. Woodside, La La Anthony, and Gina Torres.

Unwelcome (2023)

After Maya is attacked in their London home, she and her significant other Jamie design to locate to somewhere safer. They move to a new home in rural Ireland, hoping to make a better life for themselves. Soon they find themselves victims of an even bigger threat. Their house is haunted by goblin-like creatures called Red Caps. These vicious creatures are out for blood, and the couple will have to find a way to protect themselves from these unwelcome pests. 

Infinity Pool (2023)

A struggling writer and his wife go on vacation to a remote island resort and enjoy the seeming paradise. While at an infinity pool, they meet a mysterious woman named Gabi. She invites them to join her on a trip outside of their resort. Hoping to make the most of their trip, they agree but soon find themselves thrust into a world of violence, horror, and brutal murder.

As Megan learns more about the world around her, she becomes extremely protective of the young girl. She will do anything to protect her, and that includes killing anyone who gets in the way.

Run Rabbit Run (2023)

A young girl claims to have memories from another life, much to the shock of her mother Sarah. She initially tries to shrug off as kids being kids, but her daughter’s behavior becomes increasingly strange. This leads Sarah to challenge her own beliefs while she comes to terms with ghosts from her own past. 

Burial (2022)

Set in West Poland after World War II, a group of Russian soldiers prepare to deliver Hitler’s remains to Moscow. However, everything goes horribly wrong when German werewolves attack them. The few survivors must band together to make a last stand against the Nazi werewolves. Silly and consulted story aside, the movie takes itself reasonably seriously in this thriller film. 

Linoleum (2023)

Linoleum

Cameron’s life changes suddenly when part of a mysterious rocket lands in his backyard. This sparks something in him, the yearning to follow his unrealized dream of building his own rocket. In what initially seems to be an odd sort of mid-life crisis, Cameron soon realizes there is much more going on than he previously realized in this sci-fi mid-life crisis drama. 

Nimona (2023)

Nimona is a young shapeshifter living in a medieval fantasy world where magic is outlawed. As an outcast, Nimona lives alone in the shadows, though she secretly dreams of being a knight. One day she meets Ballister Blackheart, a knight who is framed for murder. The two agree to work together to clear his name, forging a powerful friendship along the way. 

 

Biosphere (2023)

Biosphere is a sci-fi comedy that takes place in a not-too-distant future where climate change has ravaged the planet, ending the world as we know it. The two men are the only known survivors, living in a protected biosphere away from the chaos outside. There are several twists to this movie, making it absolutely worth the watch. 

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (2023)

The final chapter of the Guardians of the Galaxy has arrived. Following the death of the original Gamora, the Guardians are still reeling from the lose while they attempt to adjust to life with the ‘new’ ‘Gamora. Meanwhile, a new threat is rising in the form of a mad scientist, the High Revolutionary. This same scientist is the one responsible for creating Rocket in the first place.

The Portable Door (2023)

Set in an alternate London, Paul Carpenter is a new intern for a secretive firm that blends corporate strategy and culture with magic. Things get interesting when Paul discovers a magical artifact that lets him travel to different worlds instantly. He soon also stumbles upon the corporation’s true purpose and finds himself embattled in a war against evil.

The Quiet Girl (2023)

The Quiet Girl is a coming-of-age drama set in Ireland during the 80s. Cáit has lived her young life in poverity with little positive attention from either of her parents. When her mother becomes pregnant again they send her off to live with a distant cousin. Slowly but surely she forms a bond with her new foster family as she starts to know and accept love and kindness for the first time in her short nine years of life.

Adam DeVine stars as Owen Browning, a bank manager who’s life is turned upside down when his bank is held up by the Ghost Bandits. As luck would have it, this robbery occurs the week before Owen’s wedding. It’s also the same week his fiancee’s parents show up. Certain evidence pops up and soon has Owen wondering if his in-laws are actually behind the robbery.

65 is set in a sort-of Star Wars-like reality. In other words, it takes place long before the time of humankind on Earth, and yet has human-looking ‘aliens’. After his ship crashes on an uncharted planet, pilot Mills (Adam Driver) must team up with the only other survivor, a young girl who doesn’t speak his language. Together they must make their way to an escape pod. But they aren’t alone. The planet is filled with deadly dinosaurs that make survival all the more difficult. 

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)

Puss and Boots: The Last Wish has been available for a while but is now finally making its way to Netflix for the first time. While technically the second Puss and Boots movie, this movie stands out in many ways, including a deeper and emotionally-driven story and unique animation style that takes some inspiration from Sony’s Into the Spiderverse movies. As for the story, Puss is living his best life until he dies. As a cat, he has nine lives but is down to his last one. There is one way to restore his previous lives: a legendary wishing star. 

Gray Matter (2023)

This coming-of-age sci-fi thriller centers on a young girl named Aurora, who is said to possess dangerous superhuman powers. Her mother has taught her to avoid using them, that is, until tragedy hits. Forced to use her powers, she soon starts to question everything she knew about herself and her family. Although the movie has received mixed reviews, strong performances from the cast and a somewhat interesting (though predictable) premise could make it worth the watch. 

A Little White Lie (2023)

Eddie Shriver is a reclusive author who the public hasn’t seen in over 20 years, but this doesn’t stop him from being invited to a university to deliver a keynote speech. Only one issue, the Eddie that shows up isn’t a writer at all. Heck, he’s barely ever read a book. The down-on-his-luck handyman accepts the invite and poses as the writer. Everything goes well until the real Shriver shows up. With big names like Zach Braff, Kate Hudson, and Don Johnson — this comedy is worth a look. 

Bird Box Barcelona (2023)

A spin-off of the 2018 film Bird Box, this Spanish post-apocalyptic horror thriller centers around Sebastian and his daughter Anna as they team up with other survivors to find a safe haven in a world that has been invaded by mysterious and deadly alien creatures just nine months prior. While the invaders are certainly dangerous, the survivors soon learn that’s not the only threat, as the humans that remain prove just as ruthless. 

Quicksand (2023)

A married couple on the brink of divorce end up in Columbia on business. During their downtime, they set off on a hike through the Amazon. Things don’t go as planned when a storm hit, and the couple ends up trapped in a pit of quicksand. Unable to move, the couple must attempt to survive while battling the elements. 

The Deepest Breath

This documentary follows Italian freediver Alessia Zecchini as she attempts to break a world record with the help of safety diver Stephan Keenan. This film not only follows her training, which involves her breathing underwater for over 200 meters, but also explores the psychological and physical challenges of freediving.
